To me, web 2.0 has reached it’s peek. Every one and their mother and their mother’s cat has a blog, vlog, youtube channel, twitter, tumblr and pownce account. Heck, you can even get a widget dedicated to “The Greatness of Bob” in about one week on Facebook or Wordpress.

If left me asking, what do you need to stand out? What makes you web worthy in an online landscape where everyone can be a viral hit.

I think the answer is simple -  Creativity, Personality and Heart.

And that goes the same for every SEO Guru,  Marketing Maven, Social Media Connoisseur and Tech Crunch Geek Wanna Be.

Face it, we all TWITTERstalk @ChrisBrogan, @Pistachio, and @ChrisParillo type. Great, these are people that should be stalked. I stalk them, love their tweets and they are industry experts. I believe in watching the big industry minds to keep me up to what is hot today and what is Web 1.0 tomorrow.

But there are also others, less recognized that should be heard and watched, as they are doing some amazing things in their niches. No, this is not where I say I am one of them (but in case, @Macala ya’ll); there are amazing designers, amazing marketing minds in targeted industries - such as adult - that I follow because they are constantly testing new ideas and theories. And by reading and watching them, I am able to better serve my industry and projects.

It’s a challenge to take something that was tested and proven in one industry and morph it into something successful in another; but with a little elbow grease and creative thought, it can be done. I’ve done it with the Adult clients I have and made their techniques sore - in of all places - non-profit online marketing campaigns.

So Here are my Twitter Picks & Their Blogs - I find them creative, original, full of life & personality and even a little sexy and raw.

  • Dress A Day - A Blog Dedicated To Dresses & Women who love them. Simple, clean and all about DRESSES.
  • Bitch Buzz - Tech, Lifestyle, Home and Culture. Fresh, edgy and “straight up” about everything. Clean design and easy navigation. Also, who can resist reading “Sex and The Post Baby Body”? Twitter: @CupCate & @BitchBuzz
  • Deep Glamour is the intersection of imagination and desire. She roles LA, West-Coast on the Fashion Industry. Perfect balance of social media, online publicity, meaningful content and freakin’ great style.
  • Sarah Lacy - who can’t love @Saracuda? Silicon Valley tech writer with geeky chick sex appeal. Taking tech sexy, okay, she has like 4300 followers, but her site is so pretty that she makes the list!
  • A New Freind  of mine via the tweet world - Anais @AVFLOX is not to be overlooked, this gorgeous Peruvian jet setter (she said, not me) is a dream to read and follow, she provides insight into the LA Elite mind of what hots and what’s not. Sorry darling, I do some market research off of you. Beat me later. And if you READ her, she has brilliant social media mind - lol, Google Chris Brogan - and screening men you date….
  • Jen Stavros is another girl I love. Jen has been at every media related event I have been at for that past three months, ever since her move from San Diego to Los Angeles. She has the most tweets of anyone I know. We talk, we laugh and then she goes to find hot programmer geek boys. She is truly out there, she leaves no part of her life hidden on her blog, she lives and breathes online culture and inspires my alter ego to end.
  • Merrick Monroe brings the cat’s meow with soft 50s BDSM edge to Twitter. Love this woman. I love her power and no BS mannerism.
  • Ben Watson had to make this list since I spat my coffee out at the “Sarah Palin is a secret SEO media consultant” tweets. Someone has to be funny, and he wins.
  • Melanie Lathan of SEOMOZ.org just gets everything first. Loving the Status_Girl.
Okay Kiddies, I am stopping here or I will have no more for next time. Enjoy and “Go Get Your Twitterstalk Girl!” — or man. Whatever.

Future of Advertising

It’s probably the best expression I have seen around the perpetual argument on Advertising. To be fair its simple common sense but this is neatly done and states the case we make constantly for deeper thought, better understanding and integration in the enterprise and so on.

I started working with the Willie Ross Foundation in September 2007. They came to me with a very simple request, AWARENESS.

Since the early 1990’s diagnoses of autism have risen dramatically, which means the need for services for the developmentally disabled has risen dramatically. With a substantial and growing waiting list of adults who are in desperate need of the services WRF offers, they were faced with difficult questions about on how to raise awareness of their program. They had to find ways to accommodate the people in need. Knowing that awareness leads to more resources, and more resources meant helping more people, that partnered with us to develop a campaign that would increase personal donations and financial support.

I developed a unique website for that enabled them to be able to administrate their site and its content without having to hire additional staff. In conjunction with this site, I launched social awareness campaign utilizing MySpace, Facebook, Idealist.org and FirstGiving in order to increase online fundraising and donation options.

I’ve hired Dan Dubelman to create viral video campaign featuring Anthony Hopkins that showed personal client stories and foundation programs. Even though the project is still in its early phase, the results have been phenomenal. The Willie Ross Foundation has gained valuable volunteers, financial supporters and are about to open another facility that will be able to accommodate another 50 clients over the next year.
